Pskovavia AN24 at Moscow on Jan 22nd 2014, landed off runway

A Pskovavia Antonov AN-24, registration RA-46473 performing flight PSW-1935 from Pskov to Moscow Domodedovo (Russia) with 16 passengers and 4 crew, was on approach to Domodedovo's runway 14R at 08:19L (04:19Z) in poor visibility due to fog, but touched down about 230 meters/750 feet to the right of the runway on soft frozen ground. The aircraft rolled out and came to a stop outside the runway strip (runway protected zone) without further incident. No injuries and no damage occurred.

The runway did not need to be closed because the AN24 stopped outside the runway strip, takeoffs and landings continued after runways were switched to 32.

The airport confirmed the aircraft landed outside the runway, the passengers were bussed to the terminal, operations of the airport were not affected. Runway conditions (braking action) and weather conditions were normal.

Russia's Ministry of Transport stated the pilot was very experienced, the aircraft was technically sound, however, nobody is immune to errors.
