UPS MD11 at Cologne on Aug 10th 2014, unsafe nose gear
A UPS McDonnell Douglas MD-11, registration N285UP performing freight flight 5X-9 from Almaty (Kazakhstan) to Cologne/Bonn (Germany), was on approach to Cologne's runway 14L when the crew did not receive a nose gear down and locked indication prompting the crew to go around and emergency services to deploy to their stand by positions. The crew worked the related checklists, identified the indication as false, positioned for another approach and landed safely on runway 14L about 12 minutes after aborting the first approach.
The occurrence aircraft was able to depart Cologne 28 hours after landing.
