Azul AT72 at Parintins on Jun 18th 2014, bird strike

An Azul Linhas Aereas Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration PP-PTY performing flight AD-2838 from Manaus,AM to Parintins,BR (Brazil) with 68 people on board, was on final approach to Parintins' runway 24 when an Urubu impacted the right hand side of the nose of the aircraft denting and puncturing the nose. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 24.

The aircraft was unable to continue its schedule requiring spare parts to repair the damage.

Parintins' public waste dump is located almost underneath the final approach to runway 24 about half a mile before the runway threshold.
