American B763 at London on Aug 2nd 2014, engine compressor stalls
An American Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N349AN performing flight AA-81 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) with 208 passengers, was climbing out of Heathrow Airport when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet due to compressor stalls. The crew worked the relevant checklists, climbed the aircraft to FL090 but returned to London for a safe landing about 40 minutes after departure.
The airline confirmed a mechanical issue prompted the return.
The flight was cancelled.
