Transat A332 near Colombo on Oct 14th 2014, stalled engine
An Air Transat Airbus A330-200 on behalf of Garuda Airlines, registration C-GTSR performing flight GA-6704 from Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) to Solo (Indonesia) with 386 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 140nm eastnortheast of Colombo (Sri Lanka) when the crew received an ECAM message that the left hand engine (Trent 772) had stalled and exhibited N3 vibrations. The crew reduced power on the engine to reduce the vibrations, declared PAN and diverted to Colombo for a safe landing.
The Canadian TSB reported the engine was replaced, maintenance observed damage to the compressor section. A service difficulty report is being filed.
