TAM A320 at Goiania on Apr 12th 2014, rejected takeoff

A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A320-200, registration PR-MHA performing flight JJ-3457 from Goiania,GO to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil), was accelerating for takeoff from Goiania when the left hand engine ingested a bird prompting the crew to reject takeoff at high speed. The aircraft slowed safely, emergency services responded and checked the hot brakes. The aircraft was subsequently towed off the runway to the apron, where passengers disembarked normally.

The runway was closed for 35 minutes as result.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
