Southwest B737 at Manchester on Nov 29th 2013, bird strike

A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, flight WN-4055 from Manchester,NH to Baltimore,MD (USA) with 142 people on board, departed Manchester's runway 06. While climbing through 1800 feet, upon contacting departure, the crew reported they had gone through a flock of birds at the end of the runway and needed to return to the airfield, they didn't need assistance, all systems appeared good, there were lots of small birds, a number of birds had gone through the engines but both engines were operating normally. The crew requested runway 35 for the return. The aircraft stopped the climb at 3000 feet, positioned for an approach to and landed safely on runway 35 about 12 minutes after departure. A runway 06 inspection found remains of birds on runway 06 just west of crossing runway 35 within the protected zone of runway 35, about 3070 feet/935 meters short of the runway end.

A replacement Boeing 737-700 reached Baltimore with a delay of 4.5 hours.
