Nelson DH8C at Christchurch on Jun 9th 2014, unsafe gear

An Air Nelson de Havilland Dash 8-300 on behalf of Air New Zealand, registration ZK-NEQ performing flight NZ-8078 from Invercargill to Christchurch (New Zealand) with 48 passengers, was on approach to Christchurch when the crew aborted the approach at low altitude (approx 500 feet) due to an unsafe gear indication and entered a hold at 3500 feet for about 20 minutes while working the checklists. The aircraft landed safely about 35 minutes after aborting the first approach.

Air New Zealand confirmed indication of a landing gear issue which is believed to be the result of a fault of the warning system.
