Gol B738 at Rio de Janeiro on Sep 2nd 2014, bird strike
A Gol Transportes Aereos Boeing 737-800, registration PR-GXC performing flight G3-2115 from Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont,RJ to Sao Paulo Viracopos,SP (Brazil), was in the initial climb out Santos Dumont Airport when the right hand engine (CFM56) ingested a bird prompting the crew to stop the climb at 5000 feet and divert to Galeao Airport for a safe landing on runway 15 about 15 minutes after departure.
The flight was cancelled.
A passenger reported that shortly after takeoff from Santos Dumont Airport a bird hit the right hand engine, the aircraft diverted to Rio de Janeiro's Galeao International Airport.
