Zimbabwe B732 at Harare on Aug 6th 2014, engine trouble
An Air Zimbabwe Boeing 737-200, registration Z-WPF performing flight UM-331 from Harare to Bulawayo (Zimbabwe) with 60 passengers, was climbing out of Harare when the crew received indications of problems with one of the engines (JT8D) and decided to return to Harare for a safe landing about 20 minutes after departure.
The airline confirmed a problem with the instruments of the engine, a sensor needed to be replaced.
Passengers reported the crew had to abort engine start prior to departure, engineers were called and did some work, the aircraft departed afterwards but needed to return after about 20 minutes. The crew indicated after landing back in Harare that an engine had failed.
Some reports state a Boeing 767-200 registration Z-WPE performed the flight, this aircraft however departed Harare for flight UM-467 to Johannesburg (South Africa) some time prior to the occurrence.
