Yamal B735 at Tyumen on Oct 2nd 2014, flock of birds
A Yamal Boeing 737-500, registration VP-BRQ performing flight YC-145 from Tyumen to Novji Urengoy (Russia) with 95 passengers and 6 crew, was departing Tyumen's runway 12 when during initial climb the aircraft flew through a flock of birds. In the absence of abnormal indications the crew continued the flight for a safe landing at Novji Urgengoy about 90 minutes later.
The airline reported that a post flight inspection revealed damage to the right hand engine (CFM56) and complained that lack of bird control at Tyumen put their aircraft, crew and passengers at risk.
