United B738 at Houston on Aug 21st 2014, bird strike

A United Boeing 737-800, registration N76514 performing flight UA-1634 from Houston Intercontinental,TX to Boston,MA (USA), departed Houston's runway 15R when a bird impacted the aircraft. The crew levelled off at 16,000 feet and entered a hold, then decided to return to Houston for a safe landing about 90 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N76517 reached Boston with a delay of 3:45 hours.

The FAA reported the aircraft received damage to the leading edge slat and rated the occurrence an incident.
