Trans States E145 at Memphis on Feb 5th 2014, wing tip strike on landing

A Trans States Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N802HK performing flight AX-3395/UA-3395 (dep Feb 4th) from Houston,TX to Memphis,TN (USA), had landed on Memphis' runway 36R at 00:15L (06:15Z) when the crew reported they had a rudder problem at about 40 feet AGL and touched down pretty hard. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and vacated the runway.

The FAA reported the aircraft scraped a wing along the runway, the damage is being assessed.

The aircraft had aborted the first approach to runway 36L and queried the function of the localizer 36L, then positioned for another approach touching down on 36R about 20 minutes later.
