TAAG B773 over Atlantic on Nov 15th 2014, engine problem

A TAAG Angola Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration D2-TEI performing flight DT-746 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to Luanda (Angola) with 191 passengers and 14 crew, was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean about one hour into the crossing when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Recife,PE (Brazil) due to an engine problem (GE90). The aircraft drifted down descending through FL270 about 180nm out of Recife and continued for a safe landing about 90 minutes after the decision to divert.

The passengers were taken to hotels.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Recife 24 hours after landing, the flight is currently estimated to continue on Monday Nov 17th.
