Sky Regional E175 near New York on Apr 13th 2014, bleed air problem
A Sky Regional Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of Air Canada, registration C-FEJP performing flight RS-7451/AC-7451 from New York La Guardia,NY (USA) to Montreal,QC (Canada), was climbing out of New York when the crew received a "BLEED 2 OVERPRESS" indication. The crew stopped the climb, reduced the right hand engine (CF34) was idle and attempted to rectify the problem by working the related checklists, however, without success. The aircraft returned to La Guardia for a safe landing about 25 minutes after departure.
The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft had been dispatched under minimum equipment list requirings with the #1 bleed air system inoperative, the aircraft therefore could not pressurize while climbing out of New York. The crew declared emergency and returned to La Guardia with the right hand engine kept at idle thrust.
