Singapore A388 near Baku on Jan 6th 2014, loss of cabin pressure

A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800, registration 9V-SKE performing flight SQ-317 (Jan 5th) from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Singapore (Singapore) with 467 passengers and 27 crew, was enroute at FL370 about 200nm northeast of Baku (Azerbaijan) when the noise levels on board increased, the noises obviously produced by faulty door seal. The flight crew subsequently initiated an emergency descent instructing cabin crew to take their seats, the passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft descended to FL100 and diverted to Baku for a safe landing.

Passengers reported there was a lot of noise obviously from one of the aircraft doors, then the cockpit announced cabin crew to take their seats and the passenger oxygen masks came down. The aircraft descended and diverted to Baku.

The airline confirmed a technical problem prompted the aircraft to divert to Baku. A replacement Airbus A380 has been dispatched to Baku and is due to arrive in Singapore with a delay of about 30 hours.

A replacement Airbus A380-800 registration 9V-SKD departed Singapore as flight SQ-8850 enroute to Baku.
