Ryanair B738 at Bremen on Aug 21st 2014, flaps failure
A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DHY performing flight FR-3783 from Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) to Bremen (Germany) with 172 passengers and 6 crew, was on approach to Bremen (maximum runway length 2,040 meters/6,700 feet) when the crew stopped the descent at FL060 due to problems with the flaps and entered a hold. The crew subsequently decided to divert to Hanover (Germany), maximum runway length 3800 meters/12,470 feet, and prepared for a flaps up landing. The aircraft touched down on Hanover's runway 27R at a speed of 192 knots over ground about 40 minutes after aborting the approach to Bremen and rolled out safely, emergency services cooled the brakes.
The passengers were bussed to Bremen and arrived at their destination 4 hours behind schedule.
A passenger reported the crew announced some technical problem, they were diverting to Hanover for the longer runway available there. The landing in Hanover felt hard but okay, emergency services checked and cooled the brakes after roll out.
