Malaysia B734 near Langkawi on May 20th 2014, passenger reports engine explosion after lightning strike
A Malaysia Boeing 737-400, flight MH-1438 from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi (Malaysia), was descending through FL200 towards Langkawi when the aircraft was struck by lightning. The crew continued for a safe landing at Langkawi.
A passenger reported the left hand engine had exploded causing huge media coverage in Malaysia.
The airline stated, the aircraft received just a lightning strike, an inspection revealed no damage and the aircraft continued service afterwards.
