KLM B744 near Frankfurt on Mar 10th 2014, engine shut down in flight

A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFH performing flight KL-872 from Delhi (India) to Amsterdam (Netherlands), was enroute at FL340 about 170nm east of Frankfurt (Germany) still in Czech airspace when the crew needed to shut the #2 engine (CF6, left hand inboard) down. The aircraft drifted down and diverted to Frankfurt for a safe landing on Frankfurt's runway 07C about 35 minutes later.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration PH-BFA positioned to Frankfurt, resumed the flight and reached Amsterdam with a delay of 5 hours.

PH-BFH had undergone maintenance in Subang (Malaysia) between January 3rd 2014 and Mar 6th 2014 before returning to service on Mar 7th 2014. Following the diversion to Frankfurt the aircraft was able to position back to Amsterdam on Mar 11th 2014.
