Jazz DH8C near Vancouver on Jun 27th 2014, engine shut down in flight
A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-FACT performing flight QK-8259 from Vancouver,BC to Nanaimo,BC (Canada) with 41 people on board, had climbed to cruise altitude 4000 feet when the #2 engine (PW123) developed an over-torque condition prompting the crew to shut the engine down and return to Vancouver, where the aircraft landed safely about 35 minutes after departure.
The Canadian TSB reported that as result of the engine shut down in accordance with the checklists hydraulic pressure was also lost.
