Flybe DH8D at Guernsey on Nov 8th 2014, bird strike

A Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration G-JEDW performing flight BE-502 from Guernsey,CI to Birmingham,EN (UK), departed Guernsey's runway 27 when shortly after departure a bird impacted the left hand propeller. The aircraft continued the climb levelling off at FL170 and continued to Birmingham for a safe landing on runway 15 with the left hand engine shut down.

According to Britain's yellow press passengers reported that shortly after becoming airborne at Guernsey a loud bang was heard from the left hand side and the propeller cone appeared to be damaged and the propeller stopped shortly after departure, the aircraft then continued to Birmingham flying on one engine for nearly one hour.

The only passenger photos of the feathered propeller in flight show the aircraft descending towards Birmingham. Passenger tweets indicate a bird strike into the left hand propeller on departure from Guernsey, the aircraft continued to Birmingham for a safe landing but the tweets do not mention when the engine was shut down.
