Expressjet E145 near Knoxville on Nov 26th 2013, bleed air fault
An Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N13988 performing flight EV-5969/UA-5969 from Knoxville,TN to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 53 people on board, was climbing through 17,000 feet out of Knoxville when the crew reported a right hand bleed and decided to return to Knoxville, ATC initially believing the left hand engine had been shut down and the right hand bleed system was malfunctioning. The crew subsequently advised the left hand engine was still running, there was a problem with the right hand bleed air system. The aircraft landed safely on Knoxville's runway 23R (active runways 05, approach cleared the flight for ILS approach runway 05L correction 23R and re-issued the clearance for the ILS approach 23R) about 22 minutes after departure.
The airline reported a maintenance indication prompted the return.
