Easyjet A319 near Barcelona on Jul 25th 2014, lightning strike

An Easyjet Airbus A319-100, registration G-EZFD performing flight U2-6025 from Bristol,EN (UK) to Barcelona,SP (Spain) with 154 passengers, was on approach to Barcelona when the aircraft was struck by lightning. The crew decided to divert to Reus,SP (Spain) where the aircraft landed safely.

The incident aircraft is still on the ground in Reus about 32 hours after landing.

The airline reported that the aircraft diverted to Reus due to thunderstorms at Barcelona. During the descent the aircraft was struck by lighting, the aircraft is designed to withstand lightning, the safety of the flight was not compromised.
