Delta MD88 at Fort Lauderdale on Oct 5th 2014, bird strike
A Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-88, registration N914DE performing flight DL-497 from New York JFK,NY to Fort Lauderdale,FL (USA), was on final approach to Fort Lauderdale's runway 28R when the crew reported they took a bunch of mallards. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 28R and taxied to the terminal arriving with a damaged radome.
The aircraft was unable to perform its next scheduled flight DL1568 until a new radome had been brought in. The occurrence aircraft departed for flight DL-1568 with a delay of 10 hours.
A passenger waiting for DL-1568 reported the radome was damaged when the aircraft taxied in, a new radome was needed.
