Cobham RJ1H at Perth on Apr 29th 2014, uncontained engine failure
A Cobham Aviation Avro RJ-100, registration VH-NJI performing flight NC-1994 from Perth,WA to Barrow Island,WA (Australia), was climbing out of Perth's runway 21 when a loud bang occurred from engine #2 (LF507, inboard left hand) and the crew received a fire indication for that engine. The crew stopped the climb at about 1000 feet and returned to Perth for an immediate landing on runway 21 about 6 minutes after departure.
The Australian Transportation Safety Board have opened an investigation into the occurrence rated an incident.
