Air Contractors B733 near Cork on Jun 24th 2014, suspected fuel leak
An Air Contractors Boeing 737-300, registration EI-STA performing flight AG-419J from Belfast International,NI (UK) to Barcelona,SP (Spain) with 144 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute at FL340 about 160nm south of Cork (Ireland) when the crew declared emergency reporting they had indications of a significant fuel leak but weren't sure whether there was a fuel leak indeed. The crew decided to turn around and divert to Cork advising they'd be on the limit to an overweight landing. The aircraft landed safely on Cork's runway 35 about 26 minutes after turning around. An inspection of the aircraft showed no evidence of fuel leak.
The passengers were taken to hotels over night.
The airline reported the following day that no fuel leak had occurred, the problem was caused by a faulty instrument.
The occurrence aircraft resumed the flight the next afternoon and reached Barcelona with a delay of about 16 hours.
