UTAir B735 near St. Petersburg on Apr 3rd 2014, hydraulic failure

A UTAir Boeing 737-500, registration VP-BFW performing flight UT-577 from Moscow Vnukovo to Murmansk (Russia), was descending towards Murmansk when the crew received indication of a hydraulic failure and decided to discontinue the approach. The aircraft climbed back to FL250 and diverted to Saint Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport, located about 540nm south of Murmansk, where the aircraft landed safely about 2 hours later.

A replacement Boeing 737-500 registration VQ-BJM reached Murmansk with a delay of 7:15 hours.

Murmansk features a runway of 2,500 meters/8,200 feet length, St. Petersburg features two runways, one 3,400 meters/11,150 feet and the other 3,780 meters/12,400 feet length.
