United B764 near Zurich on Mar 20th 2014, minor technical problem

A United Boeing 767-400, registration N66051 performing flight UA-53 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Washington Dulles,DC (USA), was climbing out of Zurich when the crew stopped the climb at FL280 reporting minor technical problems and decided to return to Zurich. The aircraft was assigned runway 14. Upon query by approach control whether they would perform an overweight landing the crew replied in the affirmative, the controller offered the longer runway 16 which the crew accepted. Emergency services were called out on stand by by air traffic control for the overweight landing while the aircraft intercepted the localizer. The Boeing landed safely on Zurich's runway 16 about one hour after stopping the climb at FL280. After landing the crew reported operations normal, vacated the runway and taxied to the apron.

Ground observers reported maintenance worked on the left hand engine after landing with both engine doors open.
