THY A343 near Casablanca on Jan 12th 2014, tablet computer prompts diversion

A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A340-300, registration TC-JIH performing flight TK-15 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) with 229 people on board, was enroute near Casablanca (Morocco) when the crew decided to divert to Casablanca after a suspicious item had been found on board. The aircraft landed safely at Casablanca.

After a security check the aircraft was able to continue to Brazil and reached Sao Paulo with a delay of 4 hours.

It later emerged that an unclaimed tablet computer had been found on board of the aircraft, a security check did not reveal any explosive or suspicious materials.
