SAA A332 near Sao Paulo on Aug 7th 2014, engine oil problems

A SAA South African Airways Airbus A330-200, registration ZS-SXY performing flight SA-225 (scheduled dep Aug 6th, actual dep Aug 7th) from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to Johannesburg (South Africa) with 186 passengers and 13 crew, was enroute at FL370 about 2 hours into the flight about 900nm eastnortheast of Sao Paulo over the South Atlantic Ocean when the crew decided to return to Sao Paulo due to a decreasing engine (Trent 772) oil quantity indication. The aircraft climbed to FL380 for the return and landed safely back on Sao Paulo's runway 09L about 5 hours after departure.

The airline confirmed the aircraft returned to Sao Paulo due to problems with the oil level in one of the engines, the passengers were taken to hotels.

The occurrence aircraft departed Sao Paulo for a test flight SA-4223 about 32 hours after landing and is estimated to reach Johannesburg as flight SA-9225 with a delay of 48 hours.
