PIA B772 at Peshawar and Sialkot on Dec 31st 2013, unannounced diversion

A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration AP-BGJ performing flight PK-351 from Peshawar to Karachi (Pakistan), diverted to Sialkot (Pakistan), completely off track (see map below), for unknown reasons. The aircraft landed safely in Sialkot.

The incident aircraft continued the journey and reached Karachi with a delay of 2:45 hours.

Pakistan's Minister of Health on board of the flight complained about the unannounced diversion to Sialkot.

Pakistan's media report of an emergency landing because of problems with the fuel supply.

The airline said, during the flight from Peshawar to Karachi the crew detected a problem with the fuel supply of the aircraft and diverted to Sialkot out of abundance of caution, there was no engine fire.

PIA's website shows the flight PK-351 of Dec 31st 2013 as scheduled to fly via Sialkot. Flight plan data show the flight was originally scheduled to fly from Peshawar directly to Karachi.

Radar data show the aircraft set course towards Sialkot immediately after departure from Peshawar and climbed to a maximum FL250 for the 180nm flight to Sialkot.

PIA is struggeling to maintain their schedule due to lack of funds and lack of aircraft, unscheduled diversions to combine flights are not unheard of.
