Onur B738 near Istanbul on Aug 7th 2014, lightning strike

An Onur Air Boeing 737-800, registration TC-OBL performing flight 8Q-221 from Antalya to Istanbul Ataturk (Turkey), was descending towards Istanbul when the crew decided to divert to Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Airport due to weather. While on approach to Sabiha Gokcen's runway 06 the aircraft was struck by lightning and received damage to the radome as well as a cracked windshield at the first officer's side. The aircraft landed safely on Gokcen Airport's runway 06.

Numerous flights in and out of Istanbul's Ataturk as well as Sabiha Gokcen Airport were cancelled due to weather on Aug 7th 2014.
