NIKI E190 at Vienna on Aug 18th 2014, could not retract landing gear
A NIKI Embraer ERJ-190, registration OE-IXF performing flight HG-8490 from Vienna (Austria) to Stockholm (Sweden), was climbing out of Vienna's runway 16 when the crew could not retract the landing gear and stopped the climb at 5000 feet. The aircraft returned to Vienna for a safe landing on runway 16 about 20 minutes after departure.
The Aviation Herald received information, that a weight on wheel sensor was identified faulty, following repairs the aircraft was able to resume service in the evening after about 10 hours on the ground.
An observer on the ground reported Vienna's emergency services turned out nearly in full force to receive the aircraft, after an inspection the aircraft subsequently taxied to the apron with emergency services in trail.
