Lufthansa A319 at Frankfurt on May 8th 2014, bird strike
A Lufthansa Airbus A319-100, registration D-AILS performing flight LH-288 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Bologna (Italy), was in the initial climb out of Frankfurt's runway 18 when a bird impacted the left engine's cowl (CFM56) causing a dent at the engine inlet. The crew stopped the climb at FL100 and returned to Frankfurt for a safe landing on Frankfurt's runway 25L about 25 minutes after departure.
A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration D-AILL reached Bologna with a delay of 2:20 hours.
The incident aircraft was able to resume service the following morning about 13.5 hours after landing.
