LIAT AT42 at Fort de France on Oct 14th 2014, landed short of displaced threshold

A LIAT Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-600, registration V2-LIK performing flight LI-370 from Saint Lucia (Saint Lucia) to Fort de France (Martinique) with 26 people on board, was on final approach to shortened runway 10, the threshold of which had been displaced due to work in progress. The aircraft touched down on runway 10 before the displaced threshold at about 11:55L (15:55Z) and contacted barriers securing the closed part of the runway. The aircraft rolled out without further incident, there were no injuries, the aircraft sustained damage.

The French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that the aircraft touched down on runway 10 short of the displaced threshold and impacted obstacles indicating the beginning of the shortened runway. The occurrence was rated a serious incident, the BEA have opened an investigation into the occurrence.

The occurrence aircraft was unable to continue its schedule. Following repairs the aircraft was able to resume service about 29 hours after landing.
