India B773 near Toronto on Sep 6th 2014, engine shut down in flight

An Air India Boeing 777-300, registration VT-ALM performing flight AI-126 from Chicago,IL (USA) to Delhi (India) with 342 people on board, was enroute at FL310 about 500nm north of Toronto,ON (Canada) when the crew reported pressure problems with an engine (GE90) and requested to return to Chicago. The aircraft set course to return to Chicago maintaining FL310. About 40 minutes later, now 215nm northwest of Toronto the crew declared emergency reporting the right hand engine had to be shut down due to low oil pressure. While drifting down the aircraft diverted to Toronto, dumped fuel for 16 minutes, and landed safely on runway 33R about 45 minutes after declaring emergency.

The airline reported the crew suspected an oil leak in one of the engines.

Air India diverted a Boeing 777-300 registration VT-ALQ, flight AI-102 departing New York JFK,NY (USA) in the evening of Sep 7th 2014 to Delhi, to Toronto to pick up the stranded passengers. The aircraft delivered the passengers from New York to Delhi with a delay of 6:45 hours and the passengers from Chicago with a delay of 30.5 hours.
