Grand Cru B733 near Heraklion on Aug 18th 2014, engine problems
A Grand Cru Airlines Boeing 737-300 on behalf of Eurolot, registration LY-LGC performing flight K2-6375 from Heraklion (Greece) to Gdansk (Poland) with 147 people on board, was climbing out of Heraklion's runway 27 when the crew stopped the climb at 8000 feet and returned to Heraklion for a safe landing on runway 27 about 25 minutes after departure.
The airline reported the captain received indication of a malfunction in one of the systems and decided to return to Heraklion as a precaution.
Passengers reported the aircraft had departed normally, but a few minutes after becoming airborne the aircraft began to oscillate yawing left and right, rolling left and right and the engines were continuously spooling up and down. The aircraft returned to Heraklion for a landing the passengers described as "not soft".
A 4YOU Airlines Airbus A320-200 registration UR-YAD reached Gdansk with a delay of 18 hours.
The occurrence aircraft was able to ferry out of Heraklion after about 34 hours on the ground and positioned to Gdansk. The aircraft resumed service about 50 hours after the occurrence.
On Aug 22nd 2014 Greece's AAIASB (Hellenic Air Accident Investigation and Aviation Safety Board) reported that the crew received an overheat indication for the left hand engine (CFM56). Following repairs the aircraft was able to ferry out the following day. The AAIASB rated the occurrence an incident and did not open an investigation.
