Germanwings A319 near Vienna on Dec 21st 2013, cracked windshield

A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWQ performing flight 4U-7286 from Hamburg (Germany) to Klagenfurt (Austria), was enroute at FL370 in Czech airspace about 95nm northnorthwest of Vienna (Austria) when the crew reported a cracked windshield and requested a descent. The aircraft descended to FL330, then FL250 and on approach to Klagenfurt to FL100 about 9nm eastsoutheast of Klagenfurt. The aircraft subsequently climbed to FL160 and diverted to Vienna where the aircraft landed safely on runway 11 about 75 minutes after leaving FL370 and about 45 minutes after aborting the approach to Klagenfurt and about 45 minutes after scheduled landing at Klagenfurt.

The airline reported a minor crack in the windshield, the crew decided to divert to Vienna out of abundance of caution in order to get the windshield replaced. The passengers were bussed to Klagenfurt, a replacement aircraft was dispatched to Klagenfurt to perform the remaining schedule of D-AGWQ.
