Garuda CRJX at Sorong on Jan 3rd 2014, runway excursion during backtrack

Passenger photo (Photo: Yosua Evan)A Garuda Canadair CRJ-1000, registration PK-GRF performing flight GA-699 from Manokwari to Sorong (Indonesia), had safely landed on Sorong's runway 27 and slowed down. While attempting to turn around at the end of the runway to backtrack to the terminal the nose gear departed paved surface and came to a stop about 3 meters off paved surface on soft ground. No injuries occurred, the aircraft received no damage, the passengers disembarked onto the runway.

The airport needed to be closed until the aircraft could be towed back onto paved surface.
