Flybe Nordic AT72 at Joensuu on Feb 5th 2014, piece of plastics blocks control surfaces

A Flybe Nordic Avion de Transport Regional ATR-72-500 on behalf of Finnair, registration OH-ATG performing flight AY-2482 from Joensuu to Helsinki (Finland) with 47 people on board, was climbing out of Joensuu when the aircraft suddenly encountered severe vibrations and rolled to the right. The crew managed to get the aircraft back under control and returned to Joensuu for a safe landing.

Maintenance personnel determined a piece of plastics had fallen into the control circuitry causing the malfunction of some control surfaces.

The incident aircraft was able to position out of Joensuu about 11 hours after landing.
