Eurowings CRJ9 near Stuttgart on Sep 18th 2014, smartphone on fire
An Eurowings Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of Germanwings, registration D-ACNH performing flight 4U-2735 from Krakov (Poland) to Stuttgart (Germany), was descending towards Stuttgart when the crew declared emergency reporting a passenger phone had caught fire and advised they would evacuate the aircraft after landing. The airport stopped departures to accomodate the emergency. The aircraft landed safely on Stuttgart's runway 07, vacated the runway and shut down, the crew advised the passengers would disembark normally and requested busses to take them to the terminal. The runway reopened about 20 minutes after landing.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for the remainder of the day and resumed service the following morning about 20 hours after landing.
