Edelweiss A333 at Zurich on Sep 9th 2014, bird strike

An Edelweiss Airbus A330-300 on behalf of Swiss International Airlines, registration HB-JHM performing flight LX-14 from Zurich (Switzerland) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 168 passengers and 12 crew, departed Zurich's runway 16 and was in the climb through about 3000 feet when the crew advised they had a bird strike just after departure, a large bird, the left hand engine (Trent 772) showed vibrations and they needed to consult with dispatch/maintenance, it was possible they would need to return to Zurich but for now wanted to proceed along the clearances, then requested to level off at FL120 and a few minutes later requested to enter a hold. Departure reported a runway inspection had found a real large bird on the runway. The crew performed several tests including a speed increase to check engine parameters then decided to return to Zurich. The aircraft burned off fuel for more than an hour and returned to Zurich for a safe landing on runway 16 about 160 minutes after departure.
