Delta MD90 at Milwaukee on Jan 1st 2014, blew tyres on landing

A Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-90, registration N959DN performing flight DL-2504 from Minneapolis,MN to Milwaukee,WI (USA), had safely landed on Milwaukee's runway 01L, a preceding aircraft had reported fair braking action. During roll out the crew reported braking action 4, but when the MD-90 turned off the runway at taxiway M about 5900 feet/1790 meters down the runway, the aircraft stopped and was disabled. Aircraft on approach were subsequently told by approach, that the disabled aircraft had blown a tyre right at the edge on the runway and were sent into holds, later stated he didn't know whether the aircraft slid due to runway conditions, a few minutes later reconfirmed that the aircraft blew tyres, they needed to clear debris off the runway. A few crews got a bit nerveous stating they would need to land immediately when the debris was cleared.

A passenger reported the aircraft touched down pretty hard. The crew later announced the brakes had locked and two tyres had blown. They disembarked onto the taxiway and were bussed to the terminal.
