Delta B763 near Shannon on Feb 21st 2014, engine problem

A Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N171DZ performing flight DL-117 from Stuttgart (Germany) to Atlanta,GA (USA), was enroute at FL300 about 100nm northwest of Shannon just about to enter Oceanic Airspace when the crew decided to turn around and divert to London Heathrow,EN (UK) for a safe landing about one hour later.

A passenger reported the captain announced they had problems with the right hand engine's (CF6) starter valve and needed to divert to London for repairs. After landing a spare part was not readily available, the captain stated a spare part had been located at Gatwick Airport and was being transported to Heathrow.

About 4 hours after landing the aircraft was able to continue the flight but diverted to Boston,MA (USA) due to crew duty time limitations. A replacement crew continued the flight to Atlanta where the aircraft arrived with a delay of 8.5 hours.
