Canadian North DH8A near Taloyoak on Jul 28th 2014, engine shut down in flight
A Canadian North de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration C-GRGI performing flight 5T-478 from Pelly Bay,NU to Taloyoak,NU (Canada) with 17 people on board, was enroute at 10,000 feet when the right hand engine's (PW121) torque indications dropped. The crew increased power but the torque fell to zero. The crew shut the engine down, declared emergency and continued to Taloyoak where the aircraft landed safely.
The Canadian TSB reported the torque of the right hand engine decreased, when the crew in response attempted to increase power the torque reduced to zero prompting the crew to shut the engine down.
