A Brussels Airlines Airbus A330-200, registration OO-SFZ performing flight SN-463 from Brussels (Belgium) to Kigali (Rwanda), departed Brussels' runway 25R but burst one of the nose gear tyres. The crew developed a suspect of the flat nose gear tyre while climbing through about 10,000 feet and requested runway 25R being inspected, they would decide whether to continue or abort the flight after knowing the result, the aircraft continued the climb. After tyre debris was reported from Brussels' runway the crew stopped the climb at FL230 and returned to Brussels for a safe landing on runway 25R about 55 minutes after departure and came to a stop with nose gear tyres deflated. The aircraft was towed to the apron.
The runway was closed until the aircraft could be towed off the runway, all departures were switched to runway 19 in the meantime.
The aircraft was able to depart again after about 4.5 hours on the ground.
