American B763 at Milan on Jul 15th 2014, runway incursion

An American Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N366AA performing flight AA-206 from Miami,FL (USA) to Milan Malpensa (Italy), had landed on Malpensa's runway 35R at about 09:36L (07:36Z) and was taxiing to the apron.

An Easyjet Airbus A320-200, registration G-EZTC performing flight U2-5289 from London Gatwick,EN (UK) to Milan Malpensa (Italy), was on final approach to Malpensa's runway 35L at about 09:40L (07:40Z).

Italy's ANSV reported: "Per cause in via di accertamento, un B767 proveniente dagli Stati Uniti interessava la pista 35L mentre era in atterraggio un A320 proveniente dal Regno Unito." (Due to causes to be assessed the B767 from the United States became "interested" in runway 35L while the A320 from the UK was landing.)

The Boeing 767-300 proceeded to runway 35L and went past the hold short line prompting the tower to instruct the Airbus to go around.

The crew of the A320 complied with the instruction to go around initiating the go around below 1100 feet MSL (400 feet AGL), positioned for another approach to runway 35L and landed safely about 15 minutes later.

The ANSV rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation into the occurrence to determine the causes of the runway incursion.
