Air Canada B772 at Vancouver on Apr 2nd 2014, hydraulic leak
An Air Canada Boeing 777-200, registration C-FNND performing flight AC-33 from Vancouver,BC (Canada) to Sydney,NS (Australia) with 157 people on board, was climbing out of Vancouver's runway 08R when the crew of the next departure reported the Boeing 777 was leaking some fluid. The flight crew of AC-33 determined hydraulic fluid was leaking, stopped the climb at 6000 feet and decided to return to Vancouver. The aircraft dumped fuel for 37 minutes and returned for a safe landing on Vancouver's runway 08R and stopped. The runway was closed until the aircraft was towed to the apron and the runway had been inspected.
The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found a leaking O-ring seal between two flanges of the right hand engine driven hydraulic pump. The pump was replaced and sent for warranty.
