Finnair A333 at New York on May 20th 2014, hard landing
A Finnair Airbus A330-300, registration performing flight AY-5 from Helsinki (Finland) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 289 passengers, landed on John F. Kennedy Airport's runway 31R but touched down hard at 12:33L (16:33Z). The aircraft rolled out without further incident, vacated the runway and taxied to the terminal with the crew maintaining routine communication.
The return flight AY-6 needed to be cancelled.
The Aviation Herald learned that the aircraft received substantial damage, the main gear is going to be replaced.
The airline confirmed a hard landing requiring a thorough inspection of the aircraft, therefore the return flight needed to be cancelled.
