Lufthansa Cargo MD11 at Almaty on Oct 29th 2014, bird strike

A Lufthansa Cargo McDonnell Douglas MD-11, registration D-ALCS performing freight flight LH-8414 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Almaty (Kazakhstan), suffered a bird strike into engine #3 (right hand, CF6) while on approach to Almaty. The aircraft continued for a safe landing.

The aircraft was unable to depart for the onward leg to Guangzhou (China). The aircraft is still on the ground in Almaty about 33 hours after landing.
